Lund Water Management Dissertation Fellowship

The Lund Water Management Dissertation Fellowship supports the next generation of water management leaders. This fund supports graduate students engaging in interdisciplinary water research and encourages them to pursue their interests while thinking creatively about how to tackle major water problems. This Endowment was initialized by Jay Lund, Vice Director of the Center for Watershed Sciences and Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering, and his wife Jean Lund, who made a historic donation of $800,000 to the Center for Watershed Sciences. Ecogeomorphology Fund

UC Davis is a leader in expeditionary education and research, and the Ecogeomorphology Fund supports life changing cross-disciplinary teaching in expedition settings. Ecogeomorphology classes integrate regular classroom teaching with field experiences for graduate and undergraduate students in some of the most scenic and iconic landscapes of California and the West, from the Grand Canyon to the Green River to the Salmon. The classes bring together students from a range of biological, physical sciences, law, policy, and engineering backgrounds to address watershed conservation and management issues, culminating in a multi-day river expedition to learn and do research in the real world. “Ecogeo” alumni describe the classes as transformative experiences, and past participants have gone on to become leaders in science, technology, education, and policy.

A gift to Ecogeomorphology will support:

  • Student participation in class expeditions

  • Logistical costs of class expeditions

  • Instructional costs

  • Safety training
