Opportunities in Watershed Science Summer Internship

If you are currently an undergraduate at UC Davis, consider taking part in some of the many impactful research projects here at the Center for Watershed Sciences (CWS)! Our center is dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of critical water challenges, particularly in California, with a focus on environmentally and economically sustainable solutions for managing rivers, lakes, and estuaries.

As an undergraduate research intern at CWS, you will take part in a 90-hour, 6-week internship from August 3rd to September 11th (Summer Session II) that aims to give interns experience with a variety of ongoing scientific projects. CWS is looking to hire three undergraduate interns for this summer. In addition to valuable scientific skills and experience, interns will receive internship credits, a stipend, and collaborate to create an entry for the California WaterBlog. Selected interns will work with us to make a schedule that can fit with summer classes and/or jobs with a minimum of 10 hours for any given week.

Interns will gain experience with the scientific method by being exposed to lab work, data entry, data analysis, and (optional) field work, allowing interns to follow a project from data collection to data analysis. Some potential projects/activities include: fish dissections, fish eye lens peeling, zooplankton and macroinvertebrate identification, zooplankton sampling, trawling in the Delta, data analysis in R and ArcGIS, legal research, and more! Please check out our website here to learn more about projects that you could potentially take part in.
