Professor Kaveh Madani receives the 2026 Stockholm Water Prize

We are delighted to announce that Professor Kaveh Madani, Director of the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH), has been named the 2026 Stockholm Water Prize laureate! The Stockholm Water Prize is the most prestigious award for outstanding achievements in water.

Among Kaveh's many professional and intellectual accomplishments, he earned his PhD from UC Davis Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) in 2009. Kaveh is the second Stockholm Water Prize winner from CEE; the first was Professor Takashi Asano in 2001. We have all benefited from his active and continued work with his many UC Davis friends in Engineering and the Center for Watershed Sciences.
