Daniel A. Consolvo

Daniel is a Junior Specialist in the Johnson-Jeffres Lab, where he began work in the fall of 2025. He works on trophic ecology projects in the Central Valley, studying zooplankton assemblages, macroinvertebrates, chinook salmon diets, and fish movement. He is most interested in understanding how applied stream and floodplain ecology can best enhance water management decisions and aquatic restoration approaches.

 

Daniel earned a B.S. in Environmental & Sustainability Sciences at Cornell University. There, time spent researching freshwater ecology and wetland biogeochemistry at the Cornell Experimental Ponds Facility proved instrumental in cultivating Daniel's love for aquatic fieldwork. Prior to his position at the Center, Daniel served several years as an AmeriCorps with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's West Virginia Field Office, where he surveyed listed species, advanced aquatic connectivity initiatives, and developed stream restoration monitoring protocols. Outside work, Daniel can be found reading, hiking, playing board games with friends, or searching for swimming spots in California's mountain streams.
