Elsie Platzer

I am a PhD student in the Graduate Group in Ecology, researching wetland restoration outcomes in the San Francisco Estuary (SFE). Broadly, I am interested in evaluating how restored wetlands function within highly degraded, novel ecosystem contexts, and how local practitioners and stakeholders can still manage these sites for optimal benefits. I have conducted several studies on fish community assemblages and food webs in restored versus extant wetlands within Suisun Marsh, a brackish complex within the SFE, and am now using semi-structured interviews to investigate how restoration practitioners in the estuary apply adaptive management principles. Outside of my work at CWS, I write autofiction and memoir for literary press.
