Masaru Sakai

I am a sabbatical researcher from the National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan, collaborating with Dr. Robert Lusardi and CWS members. I am a stream ecologist with a broad interest in stream organisms, such as fishes, amphibians, and macroinvertebrates. My present research focuses on community ecology, particularly the study of fishes and macroinvertebrates, and the integrated biology of stream ecosystems linked with conservation of stream biodiversity. I am now trying to develop these works to contribute to the formation of a sustainable society, for the benefit of humans and native biodiversity. Also, my research topics currently include interdisciplinary research linking ecology, hydrology, and geomorphology, particularly in spring-fed habitats in river networks
