Bio

I am a Junior Specialist with the Johnson-Jeffres group interested in ecological research that promotes the health and stewardship of wildlife and the environment. My work largely focuses on understanding and addressing widespread thiamine deficiency in California salmonids. I lead ongoing field efforts to monitor egg thiamine in Central Valley Chinook and Steelhead. I also facilitate the Spinning Salmon in the Classroom program by coordinating field efforts, supporting the program management team, and participating in classroom outreach.

My personal research project looks to reconstruct historic marine diets of endangered winter-run Chinook through stable isotope analysis of their scales. By understanding historic changes in marine diet, I hope to better understand the emergence of thiamine deficiency and its continuing impacts on the winter-run population.
