Postdoctoral Research Scholar

Bio
Rachael is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar working at the Center for Watershed Sciences with Drs. Rachel Johnson and Carson Jeffres on the ecology and conservation of endangered salmon populations in California. Her work focuses on relationships between habitat mosaics, environmental variability, and population diversity in highly modified watersheds and seeks to understand how management actions can enhance or suppress resilience in vulnerable salmon populations. She uses a variety of methods such as field studies, time series analyses, and stable isotope reconstructions to uncover life history strategies and population dynamics in coastal California and Central Valley systems. Rachael's main projects at CWS work to inform and support collaborative management and reintroduction efforts of Winter-run Chinook Salmon in key habitats.

Rachael is also passionate about mentorship of early career scientists - feel free to email about questions and opportunities!
