Director Jay Lund Appointed to Delta Science Board
Jay Lund, Director of the Center for Watershed Sciences, has been named to the influential Delta Independent Science Board, which guides state officials on management of the West Coast's largest estuary. Delta Stewardship Council Chairman Phil Isenberg announced the appointment Sept. 7, noting Lund's internationally renown expertise in managing California's water and his deep understanding of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
Lund, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, replaces Geology Professor Jeffrey Mount, the Center's Founding Director. Mount plans to step down from board in October, when he retires from UC Davis. California's Delta Reform Act of 2009 created the science board to oversee the scientific research, monitoring and assessments that support the Council's management of the Delta's natural resources.
