Campus to host global water event, Oct. 5-6
The Shed's Jay Lund, Thomas Harter and Helen Dahlke are scheduled to present the California story at the global Water for Food Security conference, Oct. 5-6, which will bring together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders and investors at the UC Davis Conference Center.
"The goal is to advance solutions to the global challenge of reconciling the growth of food with the demands of urban, industrial, and environmental needs for freshwater supplies — all against a backdrop of higher energy prices and climate change," according to the university's World Food Center, which is organizing the event.
Registration is $50 for students, $250 for academics and $350 for others. The fee includes continental breakfast and lunch each day and an evening reception October 5. A limited number of grants for developing country participants are available.
