I recently completed a series of papers on the taxonomy of cryptic species of fish in the California roach, California riffle sculpin, and Speckled dace species complexes. A key tool was genomics, thanks to Yingxin Su, Mac Campbell and others in the fish genetics group on campus. I continue to contribute to projects when asked (e.g. Beth Chasnoff’s publication of her PhD dissertation on redeye bass). An ongoing project, with Rob Leidy and Andrew Rypel, is revising the official list of fishes in California.
I also contribute to the California WaterBlog.
