Barn Raising: Community mural painting

Sign up and join CWS on March 26, 2022 at 11:00am PST for a special community mural painting event in Woodland! Community members will be invited to grab a paint brush to help us paint a large-scale mural on a local barn.

Leaks an Untapped Opportunity for Water Savings

In a recent article "Untapped potential: leak reduction is the most cost-effective urban water management tool", Amanda Rupiper, Joakim Weill, Ellen Bruno, Katrina Jessoe (CWS Associate Director), and Frank Loge, combine economic and engineering principles to explore water utilities in the United States. Rupiper et al. 2022 propose a utility-specific economic model that helps identify when water leaks would be especially economically worthwhile to manage more effectively.

The Restoration of Butte Creek, featured by PBS KVIE

PBS KVIE recently featured the restoration of Butte Creek in "Sharing Butte Creek", Season 28 Episode 8. The piece is beautifully done and features researchers from CWS! Congratulations, Carson Jeffres! This award is given by the UC Davis Foundation Board of Trustees to honor and celebrate individuals who, although their job descriptions may not include donor stewardship, demonstrate excellent results in engaging with and acknowledging our supporters. This award celebrates the important role that faculty and staff play in donor stewardship and relationship-building.

Get to know our newest Institute of the Environment Fellow, Brandi Goss!

The Institute of the Environment has recently announced Brandi Goss among the recipients of the 2021 Muir Institute Scholars Program! Brandi Goss is a Master's Student under Dr. Robert Lusardi in the Center for Watershed Sciences at UC Davis. Her work is centered on aquatic community ecology research with real-world conservation applications. ​Read on to learn more about this sprouting collaborative project!

Congratulations to Dr. Jay R. Lund for receiving the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Prize for Water!

The Center for Watershed Sciences is happy to announce that our Director, Jay Lund, has won the internationally acclaimed Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Prize for Water (PSIPW). On July 26th, 2020, the PSIPW recognized five scientists, researchers, and innovators for their work in addressing global water scarcity, including Jay Lund in the Water Management & Protection category. Congratulations, Dr. Lund!
